Karla Bueno started at the Moore County CAC as the family advocate in 2022 and assumed the role of director in 2025. Her journey in children and family services began at Fayetteville University, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work.

During her MSW internship, Karla was introduced to the role of a Children's Advocacy Center. She interned at the Moore County CAC for a year, discovering her passion for supporting families and children facing the challenges of child abuse and maltreatment.

After completing her MSW in 2021, Karla gained valuable experience in child welfare as an investigative social worker at the Department of Social Services before returning to the Moore County Children’s Advocacy Center in 2022 as the family advocate.

Karla became trained in the Child First Forensic Interviewing protocol. In this role, she supports and advocates for children and their families as they navigate the difficult circumstances that bring them to the CAC. As a bilingual professional, Karla plays a crucial role in helping the CAC provide effective and supportive services to the Spanish-speaking community in Moore County and neighboring areas.

Karla’s mission as a family advocate is to help families cope with trauma by providing education, connecting them with essential resources, and guiding them through their case and healing journey.
